Our Mission

To make more and better followers of Jesus Christ.

Our History

With God’s blessing, Coastal Community Christian Church has come very

far since we opened our doors in 1996. That year, a group of believers felt led to form

Way Station Christian Church in Richmond Hill. They began meeting in the tiny

Presbyterian Church manse on Belfast-Keller Road. A few months later, the group

called its first full-time minister, Mark Snavely, and began renting space in the Henry

Ford-era Commissary Building at 10770 Ford Ave. Way Station Christian Church

held its grand opening as “Coastal Community Christian Church” on Nov. 29 that year.

When our lease on the building was up in 1998, we were able to purchase the facility. The addition of classrooms in the outback building expanded our meeting capabilities in 2002; the construction loan for that project was paid off in early 2005, leaving the church debt-free. Continued growth in our congregation led us to begin holding two Sunday morning services, beginning in 2004.

Elders were set apart in 2005 to lead our congregation into a very promising future. In 2008, they appointed a land search team whose mission was to find property within Richmond Hill on which Coastal Community Christian Church could build a new facility to meet our growing needs. A year later, the congregation voted to approve the team’s recommendation of 15 acres of land on Harris Trail Road, near Richmond Hill High School. Our Forward in Faith capital campaign was launched in January 2009 and, in May 2009, the elders and trustees completed the purchase process.

Our story continues as God blesses us with dedicated, kingdom-minded members. We invite you to see for yourself what the Lord is doing at Coastal Community Christian Church!
